Aromatherapy CandlesMaterials:Candlewicks Candle mold (anything from small paper cups to muffin tins) 1/3 lb. Beeswax 1 lb. Paraffin Double Boiler Colored Crayons Essential Oils (available at bath stores, like Body Shop) Steps: 1.) Put wick inside molds. To make sure wick stays in place, try winding excess wick around a pencil, then rest the pencil on top of mold. 2.) Melt beeswax and paraffin together in double boiler. 3.) If you wish to add color, add shavings of crayon to the melted wax. Use a carrot peeler to get the shavings. Add small amounts at a time, and be careful not to add too much, or the candles will end up smelling like crayon. 4.) If you wish to make aromatherapy candles, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil, and blend. 5.) Pour the mixture into molds. 6.) Once cool, trim wicks to ¼ inch. For more decorative candles, that look as great as they smell, try adding pressed flowers. Pressed Flower Candles1.) With a paintbrush, brush some of the wax mixture onto the candle where you wish to place the pressed flower.2.) Gently press flower on the wax and repeat, until you have decorated the candle to your liking. 3.) Once you are satisfied with the flower arrangement, hold the candle at each end and dip the side of the candle in the wax using a smooth motion. 4.) Lift the candle out of the wax and make sure the flowers are completely covered. If not, dip again. 5.) Let the wax shell cool and harden over the flowers. 6.) Once candle is dry, buff with a piece of soft nylon for a shiny finish. |
